Garapen is the Basque Association of Development Agencies, founded in 1992 to promote local development and strengthen towns.

objectives:

• To support the creation and consolidation of development agencies in the Basque Country, facilitating a framework of common action.
• Non Discrimination or Diversity Management
• To generate forums of reflection and debate that allow all the parties involved in the development to engage in joint action.
• To manage knowledge and establish synergies between the agencies.

Services:

• Information and advisory service: we facilitate access to information and a constant advisory service.
• Continuous training: we promote agency staff training by developing training programmes, conferences, seminars and congresses.
• Forums of reflection: we hold forums of reflection and debate around the major themes affecting our towns.
• Knowledge management: we encourage the exchange of knowledge and experiences.
• Project management: we facilitate the preparation, presentation and management of projects of common interest.
• Promoting and spreading the agencies work: we develop communication activities that enable us to convey the agencies’ activity to other bodies and the general public.
• Representation before third-parties: we act as the agencies’ interlocutor in different forums and before a wide range of organisations.
